Here, my dears and darlings, is the cover illustration for The Princess and the Dragon. The background is acrylic paint on a paper made from straw (that’s were the texture comes from). The lettering and silhouette of the dragon were done by hand in black ink which I then used as a template for the digital gold coloring. The castle is colored pencil, chalk, and a little ink on sandstone paper. All composited together digitally. The castle itself is loosely based off of Mont Saint Michel in France.
